Sabbath, January 2, 2016. Pastor Dorsey II. Sermon Title: He Wants it All. Supporting Scripture:Matthew 16: 24-26 NLT.
The very life of the church depends upon her faithfulness in fulfilling the Lord’s commission. To neglect this work is surely to invite spiritual feebleness and decay. Where there is no active labor for others, love wanes, and faith grows dim. Desire of Ages 825
The only people who thought they were in a fight with Jesus were the people talking to Him. Jesus n ever fights with anyone.
Jesus also taught: Beware of these teachers of religious law! For they like to parade around in flowing robes and receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces. And how they love the seats of honor in the synagogues and the head table at banquets. Yet they shamelessly cheat widows out of their property and then pretend to be pious by making long prayer in public. Because of this, they will be more severely punished. Mark 12: 38-40 NLT
This was the last week Jesus was going to walk the earth before His death. Does any of the listed attributes below describe you in your church or workplace?
- Want to be Seen by people
- Want to be Acknowledged by people
- Want to be Influential on people
The big picture is that we don’t care about others we only care about ourselves. We talked about love for two quarters. Why because love is important. We talked about forgiveness over and over because forgiveness is on us as we studied and prayed about it.
Once information is transferred from leadership it is up to us. There is a personal responsibility that needs to be taken. It is now time to get to stepping for the Lord.
The widow was living pay check to paycheck.
Read Mark 12: 41-44
Sitting across from the offering box, He was observing how the crowd tossed money in for the collection. Many of the rich were making large contributions. One poor widow came up and put in two small coins—a measly two cents. Jesus called His disciples over and said, the truth is that this poor widow gave more to the collection than all the others put together. All the others gave what they’ll never miss; she gave extravagantly what she couldn’t afford, she gave her all. The Message Bible
Then Jesus said to His disciples, If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? Matthew 16:24-26 NLT
Jesus was days away from giving His life for us. The widow gave her all because she believed in the temple. We are living on the precipice of the second coming. Stop faking spirituality and give your all.
Tithing is giving up something that we want.
Satan uses the listless, sleepy indolence of professed Christians to strengthen his forces and win souls to his side. Many who think that though they are doing no actual work for Christ, they are yet on His side, are enabling the enemy to pre-occupy ground and gain advantages. By their failure to be diligent workers for the Master, by leaving duties undone and words unspoken, they have allowed Satan to gain control of souls who might have been won for Christ. Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 280
21 Days of fasting
Fasting is a spiritual discipline reframing from something that you want. During this time it can be revealed what we need to let go.
The church must be a working church if it would be a living church. It should not be content merely to hold its own ground against the opposing forces of sin and error, not be content to advance with dilatory step, but it should bear the yoke of Christ, and keep step with the Leader, gaining new recruits along the way. Christian Service 83.6

Many whom God has qualified to do excellent work accomplish very little, because they attempt little. Thousands pass through life as if they had no definite object for which to live, no standard to reach. Such will obtain a reward proportionate to their works.
Remember that you will never reach a higher standard than you yourself set. Then set your mark high, and step by step, even though it be by painful effort, by self-denial and sacrifice, ascend the whole length of the ladder of progress. Let nothing hinder you. Christian Service p. 238
There are several events we will participate in:
- Prayer knockers for the homes in our community as we let them know we are praying for them
- Prayer meetings Tuesday mornings at 11am and Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm
- Participate in the Pathway to Health outreach to be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center April 27-29, 2016. This is a Mega Clinic and follow up will be given to the churches in the area
A church that prays together will find power in its midst. Being the same is not how God wants it.
Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for god can be trusted to keep His promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near. Hebrews 10: 23,25 NLT
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You so much for giving us Your All in the person of Your Son, Jesus Christ. We understand You want it All from us and we are asking for a daily out pouring of Your Holy Spirit to give You our all. Please forgive us for withholding our all from You. Please give us a willingness to do what You ask us to do to fulfill Your purpose for our lives. Give us the desire to love well, to pray and to reach out with the opportunities You have called us to be involved in for the saving of souls. We choose to pray and have Your power in our midst. We look forward to 2016 in doing Your will and expecting to grow, in the midst of the challenges as we learn to put on the armor and stand. We pray, praise and thank You. In.Jesus name. Amen!
