Praying For My Breakthrough

Mission: to use our God given gifts and talents to empower our community through love to become disciples of Jesus Christ.
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us.  God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God and God in him. 1 John 4:16.
“Prayer is a heaven ordained means of success.  Appeals, petitions, entreaties, between man and man, move men and act a part in controlling the affairs of nations.  But prayer moves heaven.”  God is looking for intercessors.”

Sabbath, December 19, 2015. Pastor Dorsey II.  Sermon Title: Praying For My Breakthrough.  Supporting Scriptures: Joshua 5: 13-15.  One of the obstacles for the children of Israel was Jericho.  Twelve spies were sent out to case the land and only two thought they could take it.  The other 10 did not agree.  We get caught up with what is in front of us until we can move.
As Joshua approached the city of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man facing him with sword in hand.  Joshua went up to him and asked, Are you friend or foe?  Neither one, he replied.  I am commander of the Lord’s army.  At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence.  I am at your command, Joshua said.  What do you want your servant to do?  Joshua 5:13-15 NLT
The question is are we on God’s side?
Now the gates of Jericho were tightly shut because the people were afraid of the Israelites.  No one was allowed to go in or out.  But the Lord said to Joshua, I have given you Jericho its king and all its mighty warriors. Joshua 6:1,2 NLT
Here’s what we need to do:
1) Walk With Your God
Study His Word.  Talk to Him more.  We need to pray communication is between us and God.  Talk and listen.
Read Joshua 6: 3-14
Jericho was fortified
1) Warriors led out first in the line they took their armor
2) Priests with their Ram’s horns
Silver horn used when an announcement is made
Shofar horn of Jubilee was a horn of celebration
3) Priests with the ark which was a visual presence of God
They armed men according to tribes.
They were to circle Jericho once a day and be quiet Joshua 6:10
2) Wait on Our God
We need to keep praying about things until God does something about it.  We must follow His direction if we want these obstacles out of our way.
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord.  They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.  Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
We all make many mistakes, but those who control their tongues can also control themselves in every other way. James 3:2 NLT
Be silent and know that I am God.  Psalm 46:10 NLT
On the seventh day the Israelites got up at dawn and marched around the city as they had done before.  But this time they went around the city seven times.
The seventh time around , as the priests sounded the long blast on their horns, Joshua commanded the people, Shout! For the Lord has given you the city!  Joshua 6: 14-16 NLT
3)  Witness Your God
Witness your God remove those obstacles in your life.
“God will do great things for those who trust in Him,  the reason why His professed people have no greater strength is that they trust so much to their own wisdom, and do not give the Lord an opportunity to reveal His power in their behalf.  He will help His believing children in every emergency if they will place their entire confidence in and faithfully obey Him.”  Patriarchs and Prophets p.494
It was by faith that the people of Israel marched around Jericho seven days, and the walls came crashing down.  Hebrews 11:30 NLT
For every child of god defeats this evil by trusting Christ to give the victory.  1 John 5:4 NLT
We need to stop finding what we shouldn’t be looking for.  When God has removed a person out of your life don’t go trying to bring them back.  Trust God and move on to victory that goes for any issue that you are facing.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You so much for Your lavish love.  Thank You for how You take care of us especially when we align ourselves to You according to Your Word.  Forgive us for our faithlessness.  We read about the victory for the children of Israel as they walked around Jericho seven days.  We thank You for removing what we placed on the wall to remove the things that hinder us from serving You.  Thank You for your promises and being a God that keeps His Word.  Please help us to keep ours and strengthen our faith.  We know You will keep what we commit to You.  We pray, praise and thank you.  In the name of Jesus.  Amen!
